Juan Almada

He graduated in classical guitar in the Faculty of Fine Arts – UNLP (National University of La Plata), obtaining distinctions from the UNLP and the Municipal Government. He assisted seminars dictated by Fábio Zanon, Pablo Márquez, Eduardo Fernández, Joao Luiz and Jordi Mora. With the highest of qualifications, he concluded his postgraduate studies of Specialization in Latin-American Guitar Music with the Master Eduardo Isaac (Luis Gianneo Conservatory, Mar del Plata).

He was awarded in instrumental competitions in Spain (International Benidorm Contest 2015), Uruguay (César Cortinas Contest 2005) and Argentina (Mozarteum Santa Fe 2010).

In the academic field, he was selected in the 2013/15/16 Escala Docente Program (Teacher Scale Program) calls (AUGM), serving as a guest teacher in the Degree Course of Specialization in Guitar in several Brazil Universities (USP, UFMG, UFRGS).

He was creditor of the Bicentennial Scholarship from the National Fund of Arts (Argentina), who funded his studies in Baroque Music with the Master Miguel de Olaso. He also had a scholarship in the International Festival of Campos de Jordão and FEMUSC (Brazil).

He attended numerous festivals as a guest artist, such as the Art Llobet Festival (Barcelona), the 6º International Classic Guitar Competition in Castalla (Spain), the 8º Latin-American Week (Frankfurt, Germany), the Research Hand On Guitar Festival (Aveiro, Portugal), the 1º IFRG International Guitar Seminar and the 1º Pampa’s International Guitar Seminar (Brazil), the Art-Culture Biennial UNLP, and the Arpeggiato International Guitar Festival (Argentina).

 

He frequently participates in operas presented in the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires as a guitarist and mandolinist (Falstaff -Verdi-, Beatrix Cenci -Ginastera-, Don Giovanni -Mozart-, Die Soldaten –Zimmermann-). In this theater, he has also performed on stage roles as a guitarist in the shows “Michel Legrand Concert” (playing under the direction of the French composer Michel Legrand, BAFICI 2016) and “An Evening with Pacino” (from the actor Al Pacino, 2016).

He played as an orchestra soloist (Argentinian Guitar Camerata, Municipality of La Plata, Eduardo Sívori, “La Trama”) and in concerts and masterclasses all over Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Portugal, Germany, Spain, France and Holland. He has also been a part of the instrumental group in the Master Dino Saluzzi’s Interpretation Chair in the UNSAM. He participated as a soloist with the Argentina Guitar Camerata alongside with E. Isaac, in the South-American premiere of the Tricastin Concert from the Cuban composer Leo Brouwer; the Master Brouwer himself attended to the presentation, which was part of the homage carried out for his first visit to Argentina.

He teaches in Argentina in the Guitar Chairs of the Faculty of Fine Arts (UNLP) and the School of Music (National University of Rosario).

He is currently conducting his first soloist discographic production, in which he presents his own arrangements of the Suite XVIII by SL Weiss (first ever guitar recording) and the Sonata of the Black Decameron, composed by L. Brouwer.
